Musician Stays Hip With Help

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One prolific producer is setting his song sights on some unexpected targets.

Joe Henry is an acclaimed singer, guitarist, and producer who’s worked with music mavericks like Elvis Costello, Ani DiFranco, and Aimee Mann, but it’s the artists Henry hopes to rock with in the future that may change your tune about the singer-songwriter’s style.

Henry says, “I’d love to produce Prince and The Roots. I’d love to work with Dr. Dre, I think he’s fantastic. It’d be interesting for them and interesting for me.”

But there’s a current collaboration that’s keeping Henry hip.

He worked with legendary songwriter Loudon Wainwright III to write the score for the summer smash Knocked Up, and Henry – who’s no stranger to scoring for the screen – says the project was still a knockout.

He says, “I’ve seen the movie only about a dozen times! To hear your music shine a light the way it’s supposed to is always a rush.”

Henry’s latest album, Civilians, hits stores September 11.
