Prepare For A Shakedown

JENKINTOWN, Penn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you’re looking for a free handout, today’s your big day.

That’s because today (June 28), is “National Handshake Day,” and according to communications expert Amy Glass, the traditional greeting can be a make or break situation.

Glass explains, “The handshake is the most acceptable form of touch in the business place. A good handshake shows that you’re confident, open, and approachable.”

For those who regularly reach out, Glass says the ideal shake should include eye contact, a firm grip, and two to three pumps, while a shabby shake is one that’s too tight, wimpy, or sweaty.

But don’t think a strong shake is just for men – women need a great grip as much as their male co-workers.

Glass says, “Chivalry in the workplace is out-dated. A kiss on the hand is fine in social life, but not in the business world.”
