Miles Davis’ New Jams

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The late Miles Davis would’ve turned 81 years old this Saturday (May 26), but the jazz legend is still rolling out tunes this summer with Santana and NAS.

That’s because Miles’s nephew, Vince Wilburn Jr., is producing a new album called Evolution of the Groove that puts a contemporary spin on his uncle’s musical masterpieces.

Says Wilburn: “Music evolves, but I’m not trying to be Miles. I’m just reliving his music, which is so sacred and touching to my heart.”

Growing up with Miles, Wilburn remember the musician always trying new chords and experimenting with melodies.

As Wilburn puts it, “Miles would always say, ‘Let’s go! Play this! Try this!’ He was always looking for the next groove.”

And some of today’s hottest cats still dig Miles’ milestone music.

In fact, Wilburn says Sting, Keith Richards, and Darryl Jones all trumpet Miles’ greatness.

This Saturday, Wilburn and family will pay tribute to Miles at Hollywood’s RockWalk by presenting flowers to his bronze bust.
