Guitar Legend Keeps Kids In School, Off The Tour Bus

SAN FRANCISCO, (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Despite a life on the rock ’n’ roll highway, one guitar guru is wary of his own son’s electric expertise. Guitar legend Joe Satriani has taught Metallica and Primus’ axe-slingers the tricks of the trade, but this rock Dad isn’t pushing his own musically gifted 14-year-old son, Zacharia, into the spotlight just yet.

Satriani says, “He’s already a great musician, but he’s aware of how weird the music industry is. As a young kid, why get involved in it?”

However, Satriani is doing his part to keep other kids rockin’ by auctioning off a personally illustrated guitar at the Hollywood House Of Blues on May 17.

The proceeds from the auction will benefit Little Kids Rock – an organization which donates instruments to public schools.

Satriani’s intricate axe is expected to raise up to $5,000, but he wants the buyer to rock it, not revere it.

He says, “Purchasing it and locking it away would be a shame.”
