Gena Rowlands Loves To Confuse The Grim Reaper

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Gena Rowlands plays so many dying characters, she can’t keep them all straight.

The award-winning actress plays a woman dying of cancer who befriends nurse Lacey Chabert in the upcoming Lifetime movie What If God Were The Sun? and admits “dying is my niche.”

Rowlands says so many of her recent roles – including playing a woman stricken with Alzheimers in The Notebook – involve deadly diseases that she can’t keep them straight, and she often has to pause and remember what sickness she’s supposed to have.

Says Rowlands: “I just picture the Angel of Death hovering over me in a scene going, ‘Didn’t we already get this one? I thought we got her during that last movie she did!”’

Although playing people destined to die can get depressing, Rowlands says she wakes up every morning and reflects on how lucky she is in her own life.

As she puts it, “I have three healthy, fun children, lots of friends, and I’m still working – life is good.”

What If God Were The Sun? premieres May 14 on Lifetime.
