Tribute Band Combines Metallica And Beatles

MILWAUKEE (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You say you want a musical revolution? How about a band that combines Metallica with the Beatles?

It’s called, fittingly, Beatallica, and has just released its debut CD, Sgt. Hetfield’s Motorbreath Pub Band, that features metal mash-ups like “Blacked In The USSR,” “And Justice For All My Loving,” and “A Garage Dayz Nite.”

James Lennfield, the guitarist and vocalist for the Milwaukee- based band says the idea came up in 2001 as part of “Spoof Fest,” an annual tradition that features local bands “emulating and desecrating” their favorite bands.

The crowd reaction was so intense that the band has managed to make a career out of it. In fact, they’re currently touring Germany and one fan there is so high on the band, he’s even made his own “Beatallica” beer.

Among the fans is Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, who has given Beatallica permission to use its songs for their own purposes.

Lennfield is flattered but says the biggest compliment is when Beatles fans are inspired to listen to metal and headbangers “start listening to their parents’ Beatles albums for the first time.”
