Laura Prepon Directing Teenagers Toward Film Careers

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Laura Prepon’s work on That ’70s Show ended last May, but her work on the 21st century is just beginning.

And part of that means helping teenage girls learn about directing via the 2007 Girls In The Directors Chair Program sponsored by StayFree.

The program allows 10 girls from east of the Mississippi and 10 girls west of it to team up on a short film starring either Prepon or Rachael Leigh Cook.

Prepon filmed her short this past Friday (Apr. 13), and played a wicked witch in a Little Red Riding Hood spoof.

She was impressed that the teen filmmakers were so willing to take risks. For instance, since Prepon’s character wears 4- inch heels, she thought she should sound like a southern debutante – and the young director agreed.

The two shorts will be posted online at www.girlsinthedirectorschair.com starting May 1 and the film that gets the most votes will be shown at colleges and film festivals.

Prepon doesn’t want to put extra pressure on her crew members by saying she has the best film, but she says she learned a lot from the project that she hopes to incorporate into her own budding directorial career.
