Salvador Santana Just As ‘Evil’ As Daddy Carlos

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Musician Carlos Santana showed off his “Evil Ways,” with his 1969 hit, and now his son, Salvador Santana is following in Daddy’s “Evil” footsteps.

The younger Santana has just recreated his dad’s tune for A Song For My Father, a newly released compilation album featuring the kids of famous fathers like Bob Marley’s son, Ky-Mani, and Brian Wilson’s daughters, Wendy and Carnie Wilson, doing their pop’s pop songs.

Salvador enjoyed revamping “Evil Ways,” which he based on a live version his dad played in the 1980’s that he thought was especially “cookin’.”

Says Salvador: “I updated it to a modern, get-up-and-go version with this pumping, driving vibe that makes you want to move. My dad loves it!” Salvador admits it was tough trying to fill his dad’s shoes, but says “growing up in the middle of music, all the time,” was helpful.

Salvador explains: “I’ve always been the little kid playing the cowbell on stage for my dad and running around at the studio.”

Now, he plans to make his dad even more proud this summer when he releases his as-yet untitled debut album.
