Winning Memory Championship Makes For Memorable Night For Motivational Speaker

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Saturday night (Mar. 10) was memorable for motivational speaker Dave Thomas. That’s when he won the 10th Annual USA Memory Championship.

In order to win the memorable honor, Thomas – who originally hails from Great Britain – had to memorize 99 faces and names; learn an unpublished poem by heart; and the correct sequence of a shuffled deck of cards.

You’d think that would be a snap for Thomas, who can recite up to 22,000 digits of pi, but he says the contest is quite challenging, especially a knockout competition where one incorrect answer can get a contestant eliminated.

As Thomas puts it, “I’ve never experienced pressure like that.”

Now that Thomas has been declared to have America’s best memory, he’s setting his sights on an even loftier goal.

In his words, “I want this to solidify me as a household name, so that Americans think of me when they think of memory.”
