Don’t Expect Any Medieval Dance Numbers On This Season Of ‘Stars’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Samantha Harris now co-hosts Dancing With The Stars, but it wasn’t too long ago that she was dancing with knights in shining armor.

That’s because Harris spent her childhood summers “dressing up as princesses and gypsies” at her parents renaissance fair – one of the first to spring up in the United States.

Says Harris: “It was really a fantasy land for a kid growing up – there was jousting knights and gypsy dancing. I still appreciate the magic of those fairs today.”

Despite her love of all things medieval, Harris says producers of Stars aren’t entertaining the idea of a Dark Age dance-off, opting to stick to traditional ballroom dances like the foxtrot and salsa on the show.

However, Harris says this season’s competitors have a chance to show off any hidden dance moves during the freestyle competition although, she points out, “that’s usually reserved for something more like disco.”

The new season of Dancing With The Stars premieres March 19 on ABC.
