Comedian Proud To Be ‘Hick-Spanic’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It’s important to recognize your cultural upbringing. That’s why comedian Alex Reymundo is proud to be “Hick-spanic.”

Reymundo, along with George Lopez, Cheech Marin and Paul Rodriguez is one of the “Original Latin Kings Of Comedy,” but says his roots are as much in Louisville, Kentucky – where he moved when he was two – as Acapulco, Mexico, where he was born.

In fact, Reymundo loves his southern roots and considers himself a big NASCAR fan. He’s also married to a blonde- haired, blue-eyed southern belle.

Reymundo admits that his Hispanic surname sometimes gives people the impression that he strictly does Latin-themed material but points out, “funny is funny, and any preconceived notions about me work in my favor.”

He hopes that’s the case starting Saturday (Mar. 3), when Showtime airs a one-hour special of his stand-up act. In addition, he’s working on another project, Hick- Spanic, that will focus on his southern upbringing.
