‘Little Miss Sunshine’ Cast Goes To Lunch In Character

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Some movie stars spend months rehearsing lines for scenes, but the cast of Little Miss Sunshine went on field trips to help get them into character.

That’s the word from Steve Carell who says Best Picture nominee Little Miss Sunshine came together with just a few weeks of rehearsal and some fun cast bonding activities.

Carell says their most productive and funniest cast activity was when he and Alan Arkin, Abigail Breslin and Greg Kinnear went on a field trip to bowl and have lunch fully in character, in the film’s VW van.

Says Carell: “One of the funniest things I have ever witnessed was Alan [Arkin] in the back of the van saying ‘I gotta pee, I gotta pee.”’

He continues, “He was silent for the first 25 minutes of the trip and everyone was doing their improvs, trying to explore their characters and Alan’s really silent and from time to time you just hear him, ‘Oh, I gotta pee.’”

Carell jokes, “That really sums up his [Arkin’s] character.”

He adds, “I think those trips and those couple of weeks really helped us as a cast.”
