No One Rests At The 15th Annual Bed Races

PRESTON, Idaho (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – There will be no rest this Saturday (Nov. 24) in Preston, Idaho, when the 15th Annual bed races roll into town.

Event organizer and competitor Tracy Ransom says the Preston bed races are so intense, no one sleeps beforehand.

The races consist of teams of 10 people, which include two “bed riders” and eight “pushers,” who race a bed on wheels down a 620-foot track.

Says Ransom: “The team of 10 are divided into two sub- teams and the event is a total relay race. The first team makes the bed, dresses the rider in pajamas, and pushes them down the track to the rest of their team which must do the same.”

Ransom adds that the bed racing teams get really into the competition and sometimes dress in full pajama gear despite the “rain, sleet, or snow” on the track.

Says Ransom: “One time my team wore long, red underwear during a race and we were freezing, but it was worth it for the win.”
