This Sunday (Nov. 26), 1,000 Santas will tear up the track at the Minneapolis TCF Holidazzle festival during the first Annual Running Of The Santas competition.
Event spokeswoman Lisa Dinndorf says the Kris Kringle impersonators will run down a one mile track wearing full Santa costumes, complete with a beard and hat.
Anyone can enter the competition, including adults, kids, dogs and even grandmas as long as they wear a Santa suit.
Dinndorf says the Running will begin once the festivals official Santa Claus gives the signal.
She says: Our official Santa will probably give a little speech and maybe say something like Ho, ho, ho. Run real fast! Then hell ring the gong and the Santas will be off.
The jolliest part of the event: It benefits a legal-aid foundation for disadvantaged families in Minnesota.
