Santas Get The Runaround This Holiday Season

MINNEAPOLIS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Pamplona, Spain, is famous for its “Running of the Bulls,” and now Minneapolis hopes to get the same attention with something called the “Running of the Santas.”

This Sunday (Nov. 26), 1,000 Santas will tear up the track at the Minneapolis “TCF Holidazzle” festival during the first Annual “Running Of The Santas” competition.

Event spokeswoman Lisa Dinndorf says the Kris Kringle impersonators will run down a one mile track wearing full Santa costumes, complete with a beard and hat.

Anyone can enter the competition, including adults, kids, dogs and even grandmas – as long as they wear a Santa suit.

Dinndorf says the “Running” will begin once the festival’s official Santa Claus gives the signal.

She says: “Our official Santa will probably give a little speech and maybe say something like ‘Ho, ho, ho. Run real fast!’ Then he’ll ring the gong and the Santas will be off.”

The jolliest part of the event: It benefits a legal-aid foundation for disadvantaged families in Minnesota.
