Soap Fans Battle It Out On Fantasy League

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Sports fans have long had a chance to out their fantasies via fantasy leagues and now soap opera fans have the same opportunity.

That’s because the ABCSoapNet cable channel has just started something called the “Fantasy Soap League,” where couch potatoes pick their favorite soap characters from shows like All My Children, Passions and One Life To Live.

The League’s creator, Erica Salmon, says players score points when their chosen characters engage in classic “soapy moments” such as lying, cheating, stealing and wearing red to a funeral.

Points can also be won if your characters discover they have an evil twin, go into a coma or even come back from the dead.

The League kicked off this past Monday and Salmon says people have already started figuring out different winning strategies.

For example, she says Laura Spencer from General Hospital is a popular pick this week because she is getting remarried – which earns big points on the fantasy soap scorecard.
