Chicano Rapper Continues To Educate Young Fans

BLYTHE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One chicano rapper didn’t always make hit songs – in fact, he used to teach middle-school math instead.

His name is Brown Boy and he’s the rapper behind the current chart-topping hit “Superman.”

But before he started multiplying a fortune from record sales he taught multiplication and division to junior high school students.

Brown Boy – whose real name is Dario Perez – says that although teaching math and rapping are very different professions, he still gets the teaching bug once in a while.

Says Brown Boy: “I like to educate my fans, especially when promiscuously dressed, young girls come up to me at a show trying to act older. I tell them they don’t need to talk, look, or act like that. That’s when the teacher in me comes out.”

But the teacher behavior doesn’t follow Perez everywhere, and he insists he doesn’t shush fans or slap rulers on desks during his shows.

In his words, “The classroom and the rap world are two different environments. In one, you behave, in the other, you can get a little wild.”
