‘Darwin Awards’ Author Is Afraid She’ll Be In Her Own Book

SILICON VALLEY, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An author who documents stupid ways to die is afraid she might end up in her own book.

Author Wendy Northcutt has made a killing off unintelligent people through her website and highlights the best of the best in her new book, The Darwin Awards 4: Intelligent Design (Dutton), which comes out October 24.

And while the Berkeley grad believes she isn’t as dumb as the people she writes about, she does admit she’s convinced she’s going to die in some weird way.

Says Northcutt: “I’m really a klutz.”

She admits to doing “boneheaded” things while driving and talking on her cell phone and says she almost died in a flash flood during a camping trip.

However, she says she’s surprised she didn’t die at a young age – mainly at the hands of her parents.

She explains, “When I was little I spelled my name out in rubbing alcohol and tried to light it with a lighter – I’m still shocked my parents didn’t kill me then.”
