Eighty-Eight-Year-Old Man Prepares To Compete In Track And Field Events

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An 88-year-old man from Los Angeles is getting ready to take home first place at the 20th Annual Huntsman Senior Games in St. George, Utah, this Tuesday (Oct.10).

That’s the word from Julian Myers, who has competed in 23 marathons and races during his 88 years of life.

At the Senior Games, Myers will be a contender in several events including the 3,000-meter races, long jump and the javelin toss.

To prepare for the event Myers has been running every day.

Says Myers: “I run three miles a day, everyday, no matter what. I don’t need vitamins or medicine at my age because running is my medicine and it helps me train.”

Due to his rigorous training, Myers is confident he’ll do well in the events, especially the 3,000-meter race and adds, “I’ve been running for 37 years – it’s in my blood.”

While competing, Myers also hopes to promote a holiday he created, called “Amigo Day,” which celebrates friendship, love and happiness.
