Dustin Diamond Saved By The Stand-Up

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Dustin Diamond was once known as “Screech” because of Saved By The Bell, but, these days, he’d rather be known for giggles, guffaws and belly laughs.

That’s because Diamond is concentrating on stand-up comedy and loves focusing his material on the “the stuff you’re not supposed to bring up.”

In his words, “I like when people feel uncomfortable. My comedy comes through truth and logic.”

Diamond recently got to test his approach by performing in some urban comedy clubs for the upcoming Showtime series, White Boyz In The Hood, which features Caucasian comics trying their best material on black audiences.

He says he’s heard it’s a tough crowd, but not if you’re truly funny. However, as he puts it, “If they smell fear, you’re done. You have to say what you believe and stand by it, even if the audience doesn’t like it.”

Diamond is confident in his performance at the club, in part because the audience gave him a standing ovation.

White Boyz In The Hood debuts next Thursday (Oct. 5).
