Original MTV VJs Reunite For 25th Anniversary

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Tomorrow (Aug. 1) marks the 25th anniversary of the day MTV first went on the air – and four of the five original “Vjs” are celebrating.

Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn are reminiscing about the cable channel’s early days on a special radio documentary airing tomorrow on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Blackwood – who was with MTV for five years – is especially fond of her past, but admits she’s glad she left when she did.

As she puts it: “It was like graduating from high school.”

None of the Vjs expected MTVs coming explosion, and were all shocked when they started getting bags of fan mail.

But Blackwood argues that the network’s most important achievement was introducing bands like Duran Duran to “the midsection of the country.”

Blackwood is most proud of her lasting personal friendships at MTV, and adds: “I just went and saw Martha Quinn’s daughter compete in gymnastics.”
