‘Miami Ink’ Tattoo Artist Amazed At Show’s Draw

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Tattoo artist Kat Von D. has drawn a lot of attention thanks to her appearances on the TLC show, Miami Ink, but even she’s amazed at her new popularity.

Von D. says ever since the show debuted last summer, she’s been getting asked to put tats on people she never would have suspected before, including supposedly conservative moms and even a few grandmothers.

She’s happy with the attention and claims it’s proof that people “no longer think that tattoos are just for bikers, gangsters or prostitutes.”

But while Von D. enjoys her higher profile, she admits she’s not used to it completely – yet.

In her words, “Some people have asked me to tattoo my autograph on their body but I don’t feel comfortable marking people with my name. I’d feel vain.”

The second season of Miami Ink debuts Tuesday (July 18) and Von D. has been made a full cast member.
