New Childrens Books Teach Kids How To Mix Drinks, Change Tires

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Lots of kiddie books teach kids the ABCs or the names of animals, but one author wants the rug rats to learn more important things – like fixing a martini or changing a flat tire.

Lisa Brown – the wife of childrens book author Lemony Snicket – has just written a series of picture books featuring titles like Baby, Fix My Car, Baby, Make Me Breakfast, and Baby, Mix Me A Drink (McSweeneys).

Some people might feel that training a two-year-old to make margaritas smacks of child abuse, but Brown disagrees.

As she puts it, “We don’t advocate the child drinking the alcohol; just preparing it for the parents.”

Brown says kids are basically hangers-on and should pull their weight around the house – especially, she says, “when you’re busy earning money.”

The books just recently hit store shelves, but Brown is already working on her next work, Baby, Get Me Laid (McSweeneys).
