Rodeo Queens Want To Open Sport To Outsiders

AUBREY, Tex. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Fallon Taylor may be a champion rodeo rider but she’s not horsing around about the sport’s future.

Taylor is a professional rodeo rider who specializes in barrel racing, a women-only event where the riders go around three 55- gallon drums arranged like a clover.

She’s been doing it since she was 7 and now has her sights set on increasing the audience of her favorite sport.

In her words, “The rodeo community is a tight box and can be unfriendly to outsiders. Plus, the media coverage is hush hush.”

Taylor, who describes rodeo as “the original X- Game,” is trying to attract newbies via her company, Texas Cowgirl, which holds seminars for potential rodeo buffs that bring the horses to the people, rather than the other way around.

Taylor especially wants to rope women into rodeo and admits she’s even willing to “run barrels in six inch heels to do it.”

In her words, “If a woman is trying to reinvent herself, what better way than being a cowgirl? It’s about confidence, glamour and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.”
