Tom Selleck: TV’s Favorite Drunken Slob?

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The guy who once played hunky Hawaiian P.I. Thomas Magnum has turned into a “drunken slob.”

Well, he plays one in a new movie made for TV.

Tom Selleck is reprising his role as Jesse Stone, the alcoholic, divorcee detective for Jesse Stone: Death In Paradise, which airs April 30 on CBS.

Selleck says what makes his character a great cop is probably what makes him “not such a great human being,” but that’s exactly what’s endearing about him.

He says the audience knows Stone is not supposed to get liquored up and “call his ex-wife late at night,” but they “want to root for him anyway.”

Adding that his character “struggles with the booze and his obsessions, including his ex-wife... . But in the end, those flaws only make him more likable.”
