He’s A Male Soprano But His Name Ain’t Tony

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The toughest male soprano around isn’t named Tony and he isn’t Italian, he’s Bulgarian.

His name is “Krassimir,” and he’s a Dave Matthews lookalike who’s able to sing notes once thought impossible for a non-castrated male.

But Krassimir insists he’s all male and simply developed his lower voice register without losing his upper range.

It’s a rare ability and one that wasn’t always good for him.

Krassimir says he’s been repeatedly punished by choir teachers and when he was in the Bulgarian Army, officers ordered him to spend many nights in jail because they didn’t like his soprano singing style.

That was before Krassimir hit it big in Eastern Europe. Now, whenever he runs into the officers who put in the stockades, they ask, “Why didn’t you tell us you could sing?”

These days, Krassimir is hoping to make an impact on U.S. shores starting May 11, when he hosts Experience POPera! in Los Angeles, a concert featuring him performing with stiltwalkers, ballet dancers and Japanese taiko drummers.
