Therapist Uses Goldilocks for Relationship Intimacy

SALT LAKE CITY, UT. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Relationships can be a bear but now one Salt Lake City marriage therapist is comparing them to the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

It sounds “beary” silly but Dr. Klayne Rasmussen’s “Theory of Intimacy Regulation” says most relationships are like the porridge in the story: “too hot,” “too cold,” or “just right.”

That means when real-life Goldilocks find a situation where the closeness is “just right,” Rasmussen says “we eat ’em all up.”

However, not every detail in the story is a good relationship metaphor.

Rasmussen says the part where Goldilocks breaks into the bears’ house to snatch the porridge is a “sticky part,” because, when it comes to relationships, he says, “The doors are wide open, so come on in and taste the porridge.”
