Clowning Around Earns One Woman Respect

DURHAM, N.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Clowning around for 20 years has earned one woman the title “Clown of the Year.”

North Carolina-based Jackie Garner – who is better known as “Lollibells” – has beaten the giant clown pants off this year’s competition and will be honored at the Clowns of America International convention which takes place in Kenner, Louisiana, starting March 28.

Over the years, Lollibells has entertained everyone from children to centenarians and even air traffic controllers while they were directing planes.

“Lolli” says the weirdest thing to ever happen was when she made an enormous, muscular body builder cower in fear when he saw her.

That’s not usually the response she gets. In her words, “It’s the only job I know where you’re loved instantly.”

But 58-year-old Garner won’t be doing much clowning around anymore. She says she’s officially retired Lollibells due to health reasons, adding, “She’s a handful after 20 years.”
