Jamie Foxx’s TV Special: Influenced By Carol Burnett As Much As Kanye West

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – As far as Jamie Foxx is concerned, everything old is new again – especially his variety special.

Tomorrow (Jan. 25), Foxx will be hosting his first musical special, Jamie Foxx: Unpredictable, on NBC, and while it will feature appearances by Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige, he says it will be influenced just as much by Carol Burnett and Kanye West.

In fact, he describes the show as like Burnett’s 1970s variety special, but “with an urban, hip hop feel.”

The special centers on inspirational moments in the Oscar- winning actor’s life and he hopes the show is successful enough to inspire other artists to copy him and say, “Maybe I should do this on my next album.”

But that won’t be easy. Foxx says there aren’t many artists who can act and sing, and he figures it’s because “they live in the video world.”

However, he’s quick to say that all the artists who perform with him on his show “can stand on a stage and command it.”
