Woman Hopes ‘Walk The Line’ Kicks Cash Postage Stamp Campaign Into High Gear

EUREKA, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The Johnny Cash biopic, Walk The Line, opens tomorrow (Nov. 18) and one of the singer’s biggest fans hopes the Postal Service decides to cash in on its popularity.

Cathy Malfatti is lobbying postal officials to issue a stamp honoring Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash, and figures the movie can only help her cause.

She’s getting support from the Arkansas and Virginia State Senates and has received 1,000 letters from Cash fans giving their stamp of approval.

Malfatti admits timing is everything and has been holding off kicking her “stampaign” into high gear in order to piggyback on the movie’s publicity juggernaut.

Since the movie is attracting Oscar buzz for stars Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, Malfatti is confident that the Post Office will issue a stamp sometime in the next year.

Folks interested in getting their two cents in can mail Malfatti at P.O. Box 3443, Eureka, CA, 95502.
