Character Actors Get I.D.-ed In New Handbook

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you’ve ever seen a movie or a TV show with a semi-familiar actor, but you just can’t put your finger on where you’ve seen him or her before, a new book might help you.

Authors Tara Ariano and Adam Sterbergh’s Hey! It’s That Guy! (Quirk) started as a section on their website fametracker.com and has now become a handbook for identifying those lesser-known stars who seem to pop up all over the tube.

It features often-seen actors like the late J.T. Walsh, who Ariano says always “played the bastard” in movies, including A Few Good Men; Good Morning, Vietnam; and The Negotiator.

It also contains a few actors who’ve graduated to household names like James Gandolfini, whose rank in the mob seems to have progressed with his career, according to Sternbergh.

Meanwhile, Sternbergh says he sees the book as becoming a good resource for people playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon or could even spawn a drinking game where every time a viewer sees a star like Jeffrey Jones, who is best known as the principal in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, they take a swig.
