It’s The ‘Year Of The Rock’ In ‘Ro Sham Bo’ Tournaments

TORONTO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Expect to see an abundance of rocks being thrown down by competitors at the fourth annual Rock Paper Scissors World Championship on Oct. 22 in Toronto.

That’s according to organizer Graham Walker, who says there’s been “a resurgence in rocks” on the RPS circuit recently making him believe this is “the year of rock.”

The new trend is especially surprising, Walker says, since veteran players have always considered that “rock is for rookies.”

Besides rocks being throwing down more often at the “Ro Sham Bo” championship, Walker says the 500 players scheduled to compete for the $7,500 first prize will use a variety of mind tricks to throw off their opponent.

For instance, some will use the “avalanche method” and throw rock after rock; others tell their opponent what they’re going to throw down; and some will try to “verbally dominate their opponent,” meaning they’ll talk trash to get in their head.

While the verbal boxing matches never turn into a physical fight, Walker admits “it gets pretty intense.”
