Elephant Artist Makes A Splash Painting Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A lot of couples go to Niagara Falls for a honeymoon but one artistic elephant is going there to paint.

The pachyderm painter is a 10-year-old named “Kelly- Ann” who travels with the Ringling Brothers circus.

She has been brushing up her artistic abilities for seven years and her biggest splash as an artist will come on Thursday (Sep. 22).

That’s when she visits Niagara Falls in order to paint her impressions of the falls in honor of National Elephant Appreciation Day.

Kelly-Ann’s trainer, Troy Metzler, says his painting pachyderm will be outfitted with a special raincoat to keep her dry but admits he is still trying to figure out how to keep the mist from the falls from soaking the canvas.

Metzler admits there are other elephant artists but says Kelly-Ann’s work is special because, as he puts it, “her personality comes through every painting.”

Still, folks expecting Kelly-Ann to paint an exact duplication of the falls may have to use their imagination. Metzler says her style “tends towards the abstract.”
