Doogie Howser Gets Bad For Acting Roles These Days

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Neil Patrick Harris’ nice guy persona as Doogie Howser got him a lot of fans back in the late 1980s and early ‘90s, but, these days, it’s the evil Harris that’s getting him the acting jobs.

The trip to his dark side started when Harris shattered his nice guy image playing a debaucherous version of himself in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and parlayed that anti- Doogie role into his most recent one: Playing an outspoken ladies man in CBS’ new sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, which premieres Monday (Sep. 19).

Harris won’t say whether the good-gone-bad transformation is closer to his real self.

In his words, “I sort of consider myself to be as much a magician as an actor. People are dying to know how David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty disappear. But when they find out, they go, ‘Oh, is that all?’ and the mystery is gone.”
