Lucy Lawless Forgets To Talk Like Herself

NEW ORLEANS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Acting comes naturally for Lucy Lawless, except when she has to use her natural voice.

That’s what the New Zealand-born former Xena star learned while filming a guest-starring role in the Sci Fi Channel series, Battlestar Galactica.

Lawless plays a journalist on the episode and, for the first time ever, used her native accent for the role.

She admits she’s avoided going Kiwi on camera before because “it felt gimmicky” but figured an “Aussie- tabloidy type of voice” was appropriate for the character.

But it wasn’t easy. Lawless is so used to speaking in an American accent on camera that she flubbed up a few takes and says “sometimes, I forgot to talk like myself.”

Despite her hassles, Lawless was able to get the job done. The episode in which she appears will air Sept. 9.
