No Singing For Jason Lee On New Sitcom

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It’s a cliche that sitcoms have at least one episode where the cast members sing, but that won’t happen on the new NBC show My Name Is Earl.

Although the show’s star, Jason Lee, plays guitar and has recorded songs with his friends, he says he has no plans on subjecting couch potatoes to his music because, he admits, “it’s not up to snuff.”

Still, there’s another sitcom tradition Lee is willing to consider: guest stars.

He and co-producer Greg Garcia are working on getting director Kevin Smith to appear in a future episode, and Garcia jokes he’d like to do a crossover with his former show, Family Guy.

In his words, “Stewie appears on the third episode, which is all animated.”

My Name Is Earl, which also stars Jaime Pressly, debuts Sept. 20.
