‘Survivor’ Winner Discovers Playing A Firefighter Harder Than Being One In Real Life

SAYVILLE, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being a firefighter or winning Survivor are big challenges, but soap opera acting was even harder for Tom Westman.

That’s what the Survivor: Palau champ and firefighter learned while filming an episode for the Bold And The Beautiful that airs on Wednesday (Aug. 10).

He says he feels more comfortable dealing with flames than directors but admits, “I have no illusions. Acting is a craft and I have no training.”

Still, Westman says he enjoyed his brief on-set experience even though he didn’t get to do everything he wanted.

Westman asked for a romance scene and while the producers said they’d talk to the writing staff, they warned him the scene would most likely be with Lorenzo Lamas, who plays L.A. firefighter Hector Ramirez on the soap.

When Westman found that out, he opted for an action scene instead.

Besides acting on the show together, Westman and Lamas collaborated on a water safety PSA that will be broadcast following his appearance.
