Cajun Condiment Collar Wins Ugly Necklace Contest

VICKSBURG, Miss. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Vicksburg, Mississippi, resident Jann Ferris gave judges of an ugly necklace contest something to get choked up about.

Ferris won first place in jewelry supply website landofodds.com’s annual Ugly Necklace Contest.

Ferris, a jewelry designer by trade, submitted a mobile-esque creation of bottles of hot sauce, cajun seasonings, a pine air freshener and a fork and knife, which all hang from a telephone cord. Ferris calls it, “My Cajun Condiment Collar.”

It’s art that can also be used for shucking and eating oysters, which is what Ferris had in mind while designing the ghastly choker.

Ferris isn’t worried that winning the ugly contest will hurt her career as a jewlery maker, although she admits other family members are not so sure. She says, “My nephew said, ‘Aunt Jann, do they know you make pretty stuff too?’”

Ferris’ award is the very odd amount $992.93 which she must spend on landofodds.com.
