Billy Bob Thornton Still Has His Stuff

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Billy Bob Thornton’s dreams of pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals ended many years ago but he claims he still has good stuff.

In fact, Thornton says he recently threw with Cardinals pitcher Jeff Suppan and claims he threw “about seven Major League sliders.”

Sadly, Thornton never had a chance to pitch in the big leagues. He had a tryout with the Kansas City Royals but broke his collarbone after being hit by another player’s errant throw within the first half-hour.

Although the actor was devastated, he’s more philosophical about it now. As he puts it, “Let’s say, by some miracle, I had gotten in: I would be retired for a decade already. I’d be selling cars now in Orange County.”

Instead, the 49-year-old actor is at the peak of his movie career. His latest film, The Bad News Bears, opens Friday (Jul. 22).
