Good ’Ol Boys Gather For ‘DukesFest’

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Some good ’ol boys – and girls – are gathering this weekend in Bristol, Tennessee, to pay tribute to the car-speeding, jeans-wearing cast of The Dukes of Hazzard.

More than 30,000 fans of the southern outlaw series are expected to attend the annual “DukesFest” at Bristol Motor Speedway, where original stunt drivers will recreate car acrobatics from the series and owners of 70 General Lee replicas will parade their muscle cars around the track.

Cast member Ben “Cooter” Jones, who played Bo and Luke Duke’s trusty car mechanic, has been throwing DukesFests since 2001, but he says this year is set to be the biggest ever.

He says the event has always drawn a lot of fans, but this is the first fest since Dukes of Hazzard was brought back onto TV by CMT, creating a whole new generation of fans “who think the show is new.”

But for those who remember the good ’ol days, Dukes heartthrob John Schneider and original “Daisy Duke” Catherine Bach are co-hosting the fest with Jones.
