‘Jaws’ Fans To Emerge On Martha’s Vineyard

EDGARTOWN, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Fans of the movie Jaws are chomping at the bit to attend a 30th anniversary celebration of the film this weekend (Jun. 3-5).

Several towns on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts will be holding events to celebrate Steven Spielberg’s shark-infested movie, which was filmed on the island.

In particular, one event called “Shark in the Pond” will recreate the movie scene where a shark makes its way into the beach waters and swimmers flea in terror.

Except this time, event organizers say the water will be filled with rubber sharks, and when someone screams “Shark!” into a mega-phone, children will scramble to collect as many of the rubber sharks as possible, and the one who collects the most wins a prize.

Events start June 3 with a ribbon cutting, where several of the actors will attend, although Spielberg won’t be there. He sent a video-taped message thanking fans.

The Jaws 30th anniversary DVD will come out June 14.
