America’s Top Eater Expecting To Go Hog Wild At Vienna Sausage Contest

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The No. 1 ranked competitive eater in America will be putting her money where her mouth is when she attempts to take first place in a cocktail wienie-eating contest.

South Korean-born Sonya Thomas already holds world records for eating oysters, tacos, hot dogs and cheesecake, and now will weigh in at the Armour Vienna Sausage Eating World Championship at NASCAR’s Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday (May 28.)

The 105-pound eating machine says her voracious appetite is her natural ability. But she’s modest: In Thomas’ words, “I can eat a little bit more than regular people.”

She admits she never ate Vienna sausages until she practiced with them a few weeks ago and polished off a can in 10 seconds.

Thomas estimates she can fit a whole can of Vienna sausages – about seven links – in her mouth at once and can down 25 to 30 cans in 10 minutes – the time allotted in the contest.

She says the taste is “...okay. It’s not my thing, but I can do it.” If she does do it, she’ll take home $3,500 in prize money.
