Twenty year veteran flight attendant Marsha Marks new book Flying by the Seat of My Pants: Flight Attendant Adventures on a Wing and a Prayer (Random House) details her years in the business.
Marks says one of her practical jokes of hiding in the overhead storage compartment got her in trouble with former President Jimmy Carters secret servicemen when she jumped out and yelled Gotcha! at the wrong person.
She was also detained by Transportation Security Administration at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport for having TNT residue on her luggage.
Marks says she was so frightened by the events that it took her 24 hours to tell security she volunteers escorting soldiers on active duty to the Middle East and thats how her bags came in contact with explosive powders.
But some of her stories are on the lighter side relatively speaking.
Marks says there was one fat woman who demanded to speak to the captain because a ticket agent wrote FAT in big red letters on her ticket. She had to explain to the woman that the acronym stands for Federal Air Terminal.
