Former Marine To Walk Across America For Charity

SALISBURY, Md. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A former U.S. Marine staff sergeant is taking the words “forward march” to heart: He plans to walk across the U.S. for charity.

Dale “Radar” McQuown will start walking in Ocean City, Maryland, on May 4 and won’t stop until he arrives in Newport Beach, California, in May of next year – a distance of almost 2,800 miles.

McQuown’s original plan was to earn money for himself by selling ad space on a jumpsuit he’d wear across the country.

But somewhere along the way, he says he realized he had an opportunity to do something more, so he decided to walk to raise money for The Paralyzed Veterans of America and The Children’s Inn of NIH.

McQuown says he’s still looking for sponsors, particularly hotels who will put him up for the night as he passes through town.
