New Yarn Bus Is Stringing Folks Along

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Here’s a real yarn: The Oscar Meyer Wienermobile is getting a run for it’s money from people who brake for yarn.

The so-called Yarn Bus is a new shuttle operated by the Flying Fingers Yarn Shop located in Irvington, New York, and it’s leaving people in stitches when they see it on the road.

The customized bus has three giant balls of yarn on the roof and shuttles 16 passengers from Manhattan to the store on weekends.

Peter Shankman, the marketing expert who developed the concept for the store, says he came up with the idea because New York “knitwits” aren’t willing to drive 21 miles outside of the city.

In his words, “Anything above 110th Street might as well be Arkansas.”

Now, the Yarn bus is so popular, seats are booked eight weeks in advance, and Shankman says one bride-to-be has reserved it to transport her wedding party from the church to the reception.

Shankman says the store is considering creating a fleet of Yarn Buses.
