90 Minutes In James Earl Jones’ Life Made Him A Legend

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It doesn’t take long for some people to become a legend. For James Earl Jones, it took about 90 minutes.

That’s how long he spent in the studio recording his lines as Darth Vader for the first Star Wars film.

Jones says director George Lucas had intended to use David Prowse – the man inside Vader’s costume – but decided after putting the film together he wanted the evil Vader to have a bass/ baritone voice.

Although Jones had no idea the movie and subsequent series would be such a blockbuster, he says “often we don’t know how good a story is until it is exposed to an audience.”

Jones will once again be doing the Vader voice in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith but he’s even more passionate about The Reading Room, a TV-movie about a man who opens his private library to the residents of a low- income neighborhood.

The film, which Jones hopes promotes literacy in America, will debut in November on The Hallmark Channel.
