The Curse Of Nellie Oleson

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Some child stars try to run away from the roles that stereotyped them – but others willingly embrace the craziness.

Case in point: Alison Arngrim, who played the evil “Nellie Oleson” on Little House on the Prairie. Twenty-two years after the show ended, she still deals with people who are scared to death of her because they think she’s like nasty Nellie.

But instead of letting the curse of Nellie Oleson get her down, she’s tackling it head on in a one-woman show, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch.

Arngrim is using the show to spill the beans on the burning questions fans always ask her, such as whether her curly locks were real (she wore a wig) and whether she and Melissa Gilbert hated each other (she says they were friends from Day 1 and are still close).

It’s cathartic for both Arngrim and her fans to work out their issues about Nellie in the show, and the actress figures “maybe we can kill this [stereotype] once and for all.”

She’ll find out when she hits the stage Friday and Saturday (Mar. 18-19) at the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center’s Renberg Theatre.
