Its called dLifeTV and features diabetic celebrities like Miss America 1999 Nicole Johnson Baker and radio personality Mother Love as hosts.
A diabetic talk show may not sound like much fun, but Baker says the show will be informative and entertaining even if you dont suffer from the disease because, as she puts it, Where else can you see boxer Joe Frazier singing Elvis songs?
There will be heartbreaking moments on the show, such as when A Tribe Called Quest rapper Phife discusses his kidney failure, but Baker promises lots of laughs, especially on the topic of sex and diabetes.
Other topics will be especially funny to diabetics, such as when things go wrong. In her words, Sometimes, when you give yourself a shot and miss the capillary, blood will spurt all over and you can get some strange looks from people who dont know whats happening.
dLifeTV debuts March 20 on CNBC and, if successful, Baker predicts TV producers will adapt the idea to other diseases and ailments.
