Ole! Americans Prefer Salsa To Ketchup

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Salsa is becoming as American as apple pie.

Need proof? Look at the results of Bon Appetit magazine’s latest survey of American eating habits, which show salsa is America’s favorite condiment, beating out classic Yankee staples like ketchup and relish.

Almost half of Americans (47 percent) say the spicy Mexican seasoning is their top topping.

The gastronomic gauge also shows spinach is the No. 1 vegetable – thanks, Popeye!

By contrast, Americans say they can’t stand cardoons – a celery-like stalk that is used in traditional Italian dishes.

  • Foodies say fresh fruit is their favorite health food, but they like rice cakes the least.

  • And, finally, they think organic food is on the rise but blue cocktails and raw food restaurants are becoming passe.
