NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The release of the iPad has gadget geeks in a frenzy, but only one can claim he’s the top dog.

Retired Highway Maintenance Department worker Greg Packer is a big fan of Apple products, notoriously waiting days in line when the iPhone first came out.

The release of the iPad was no different, with Packer waiting first in line outside the Apple Store in New York City for four days straight to make sure he got the gizmo before anyone else.

Packer, who’s single, slept in a lawn chair, used the Apple Store’s bathroom, and chatted with the 30 or so people in line behind him, who he admits could get pretty annoying after a while.

He never went hungry since strangers were willing to buy him snacks so he wouldn’t lose his place in line.

Though he could’ve pre-ordered the iPad without waiting in the cold, he says the experience – and $499 pricetag – was worth it.
