HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actress Lauren Graham is no longer a big ray of sunshine – at least on television.The former Gilmore Girls star, best known for her role as Lorelai Gilmore, plays a down-and-out single mother on NBC’s new drama series, Parenthood, premiering tonight (Mar. 2).
Graham says her new TV character is a far cry from the usually perky Mama Gilmore.
For this gig, she has to act by “looking at life through the eyes of disappointment” instead of Lorelai’s sunny outlook.
Graham says the ensemble series is also less chatty than Gilmore Girls.
Instead of focusing on words and long, drawn-out speeches it’s “more about silence and the small moments” that make up family life.
Although she’s not a mother herself and was mostly raised by her dad, moms are always coming to Graham for advice.
That’s when she has to come clean and admit she doesn’t really know all that much about parenthood.
